This site is where I am going to pick any random creature ( lion, fish, bird, mammal, reptile e.t.c. ) and give YOU all the information I can gather
on that particular creature. You can tell me what to research on my chat and comments page if you ever want to pick a creature for me.
So, I have decided.....TO MAKE.........THE................ORCHID MANTIS OUR CREATURE OF THE WEEK!
Order- Mantodea
Family- Hymenopodidae
Sub family- Hymonopodidae
Tribe- Mantini
The Orchid Mantis's are different colors at different ages.
Newborn- black and red
A little bit older (like a "teen" )-white
Adults males- develope a brown or purple "necklace"
Adult female- turn green
Males develope much faster, therefore it is hard for the Orchid Mantis to mate correctly.
Males can also fly very well.
